What is the WorkZeal MCP server

A secure interface between WorkZeal and an external AI tool. It gives AI “hands” in your CRM: instead of just giving advice, it does the work itself, within the permissions of the connected user.

Finds

  • clients and contacts
  • a manager’s deals for a period
  • today’s and overdue tasks
  • income, expenses, unpaid invoices

Creates

  • companies and contacts without duplicates
  • tasks with reminders
  • deals and numbered invoices
  • income and expense records

Edits

  • stages, amounts and owners
  • task statuses
  • company details: Tax ID, address, bank
  • product prices and stock

Works with

  • Claude and Claude Code
  • ChatGPT and ChatGPT Codex
  • Cursor and VS Code
  • any other MCP client

42 CRM actions in all, and the list keeps growing. The AI can’t delete records.

Before and now

It used to take four steps.
Now it’s one message.

A sales rep is getting ready to call a client.

Before

  1. 1Open the CRM
  2. 2Find the company
  3. 3Check deals and tasks
  4. 4Create a reminder yourself

Now

Show Acme’s open deals and assign Michael a task to contact the client tomorrow

  • list_recordsDeals · Acme · in progress
  • insert_taskMichael · tomorrow · approved by you

Two open deals worth $43,000. Michael’s task is set for tomorrow.

A human stays in control: the task was created after you approved it.

How it works

AI integration: four steps to your first request

  1. 1

    Choose an AI tool

Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code or any other tool that supports MCP.

  2. 2

    Add the WorkZeal server

Paste the address mcp.workzeal.com/mcp into the tool’s settings.

  3. 3

With your login in the browser, or with an API token from Settings → API.

  4. 4

    Write in plain language

The model picks the right CRM actions on its own.

Technology

MCP is an interface, not another “brain”

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard for connecting AI to external systems. The model in your AI tool does the thinking. The WorkZeal server passes its requests to the CRM and checks permissions. Nothing happens without your message.

Every request

Changes only with your permission

You write → the model picks actions → the AI tool asks permission for a change → WorkZeal checks permissions and runs it → your colleagues see the result in the CRM right away.

What not to expect

Background work

Close the chat, and the model stops. Scheduled work is done by WorkZeal’s Insider AI agent and triggers.

Deleting data

MCP has no such actions. Only reading, creating and editing.

Access to settings

Users, roles and settings can’t be changed through MCP.

Perfect accuracy

The model may misunderstand a request. Name the client and amount precisely.

Security

AI suggests.
You decide.

MCP doesn’t open your CRM to “every AI.” Access goes to the one AI tool you connected, and only with one user’s permissions. CRM data is stored on servers in Dallas, Texas, USA. Some protection is built into WorkZeal, and some is in your hands.

User permissions

Connect a separate user

Create a user for AI with the right set of permissions. If the role can’t see finance, neither can the model.

Any AI client

One address for every tool

Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code and other clients that support MCP. Your team doesn’t have to change the tools they already use.

Built into WorkZeal

  • Role permissions. The AI sees and changes only what the connected user is allowed to.
  • Your password never reaches the AI. You sign in on a WorkZeal page: the AI tool gets access, but not your login and password.
  • Every connection is visible. Each one is a separate row in Settings → API. Turn it off, and access stops immediately.
  • No deleting. MCP has no actions that delete records.
  • A safety net for model errors. Duplicate companies are never created.

What you control

  • Where data goes. What the AI reads in your CRM is processed by the AI tool’s developer. Choose a tool that meets your company’s policies.
  • Whose permissions. If you need narrow access, connect as a user with a limited role.
  • What to allow without asking. Keep “Always allow” for reading. Confirm creating, editing and emails.
  • Bulk changes, step by step. First ask for a list, check it, then say “go ahead.”
  • Treat the token like a password. Don’t publish it. When an employee leaves, turn off their connections in Settings → API.

Who it’s for

Who benefits from AI in a CRM

Money, deals and team KPIs without building reports.

“Which clients haven’t paid their invoices?”

Tasks, stages and emails without switching between windows.

“Remind me to call Acme back on Friday”

Whoever keeps the database

Emails and phone numbers from company websites, with no manual copying.

“Find emails for new companies that don’t have one”

Finance

Income, expenses and client debts in one question.

“How much came in and went out this week?”

Developers

Cursor, VS Code and Claude Code work with the CRM without writing API code.

FAQ about AI in a CRM

What is MCP?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard for connecting AI tools to external systems. The WorkZeal MCP server is a secure interface between the CRM and your AI tool. The model does the thinking, and the server passes its requests to the CRM.

Which AI tools can I connect to WorkZeal CRM?

Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT, ChatGPT Codex, Cursor, VS Code and any other client that supports MCP. There’s one server address: mcp.workzeal.com/mcp.

How is MCP different from a regular integration?

A regular integration connects apps along a preset scenario. With MCP, the AI picks the right actions for your question on its own, so you don’t have to set up each task. MCP gives AI “hands,” while the WorkZeal API does the same for your software: your website, online store or accounting system.

Can I connect Claude or ChatGPT?

Yes. In claude.ai, open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, paste the address mcp.workzeal.com/mcp and sign in with your WorkZeal login. In ChatGPT, it works the same way, through a connector in the settings. No token needed.

Can I use an API token?

Yes. For clients without browser sign-in, use a token from Settings → API. It’s the same token as for the WorkZeal API. Keep it as safe as a password.

What data is available?

Companies and contacts, deals, tasks, documents, finance, products, email and metrics. Exactly within the permissions of the user who connected.

Can AI change data?

Yes, it can create and edit records. It can’t delete them: MCP has no such actions. Before making a change, the AI tool usually asks for your permission.

Is it safe to connect AI to a CRM?

The AI works with the connected user’s permissions and can’t delete records. You can turn off access with one click in Settings → API. WorkZeal data is stored on servers in Dallas, Texas, USA, see how we protect data. What the AI reads is processed by its developer, so choose an AI tool that meets your company’s policies.

Will AI do anything without me?

No. The model accesses WorkZeal only in response to your message. No open chat, no actions.

How much does MCP cost?

The MCP server is included in the WorkZeal plan, from $10 per user per month billed annually. There’s no limit on the number of requests. The AI tool is billed at its own rates.

How do I revoke access?

Open Settings → API. Each connection is a separate row there. Turn off the row, and access stops immediately.

Where can I find technical instructions?

In the WorkZeal Help Center, with step-by-step instructions for Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT Codex, Cursor, VS Code and other clients.
